Winston Salem Engagement Photography, a Double- Exposure in the city.

In my constant effort to become a better photographer, I have been trying to master the double exposure, or in today’s digital terms the digital overlay. This is one of my favorites. From an engagement session this week, I just love the clear silhouette with the textures of fluffy clouds and industrial buildings. 

For those who are unfamiliar with this process, you will find the option to overlay any two images in your camera’s edit menu. The images must be RAW to use this feature. As you learn and experiment you will find that the technique works best with one image that has a lot of black/ very dark area and the other having a lot of highlight/ whites. Of course there are no rules, and sometimes taking a chance on something that might not work can make the very best images.
